Important lesson learned today: buy a bicycle trailer that turns into a wheelbarrow!
This sounds random I know, but today I congratulated myself on purchasing a Maya Cycle, the only bike trailer that turns into an easily steerable wheelbarrow. Day Two and still no bike in sight, I relinquished my quaint country bed and breakfast (60 euro per night) for a sweet camping spot nearby (6 euro per night). Easy choice right? I don’t know how long it’ll take for FlyBe to find my bike, so I may have to be here for a bit.
In the Netherlands there are a lot of campgrounds so I’m very lucky. But camping is also very different from what I’m used to in the States – I am basically camping on a well manicured lawn.
Since I’m in the countryside with no bike and there is no Uber here, to transport myself and my luggage to my new accommodation I assembled my Maya Cycle in wheelbarrow mode. This way I lugged my 40 lbs gear bag over 3 km, turning a bunch of heads in the process. I mean it’s not every day you see a girl pushing a wheelbarrow around town, even in the Netherlands.
